By providing financial and purchasing services — including the development of corporate financial processes, policies, and procedures — the finance department seeks to reduce financial risks to the City of Wetaskiwin.

Department Responsibilities

Asset Management brings a strategic approach to how we will carry out actions, reach decisions, and apply technology to manage the City's infrastructure. This helps ensure we are able to apply the right resources for operating, maintaining and renewing the right assets, at the right time.

Budgets and Investments manages the City's operating and capital budget, capital asset, accounting and investments.

Financial Systems and Methods includes strategic planning, implementation, and maintenance of the financial systems and sub-systems. The section oversees business process development, internal controls and reviews, and sets financial data recovery policies and standards. This section is also responsible for financial reporting and the external audit process.

Procurement oversees transactional processing in the areas of Accounts Payable and Purchasing.
