Plastic Checkout Bag Bylaw

Another step in sustainability!

Wetaskiwin City Council has instructed Administration to draft a bylaw banning single-use plastic checkout bags in Wetaskiwin. The draft bylaw will only address plastic checkout bags and will not ban bulk garbage bags or dog waste bags.

Update: the survey results are in!
Administration has compiled the results from the residential and business surveys. Furthermore, at the September 10, 2018 Regular Council Meeting Council directed Administration to lengthen the phase-in period of the proposed ban from 6 months to 9 months. The proposed bylaw to ban single-use checkout bags in the City of Wetaskiwin will be brought to the Sept. 24, 2018 Regular Council Meeting.
