Personal Biography
Councillor Bert Horvey was born and raised in Cabri, Saskatchewan. After attending high school, he attended the University of Saskatchewan's College of Agriculture and Bioresources until 1980, where he completed a Bachelor of Science (majoring in Animal Science).

Community Involvement
After graduating, Bert spent 28 years as part of the Wetaskiwin Co-op management team and developed skills in leadership, motivation, team building, marketing, budgeting and corporate governance. Since retiring in 2008, Bert has been an active volunteer in Wetaskiwin, mostly on an ad hoc basis.
Bert is past president of the Wetaskiwin Credit Union Board, and is now a member of the Alberta Credit Union Central's Board of Directors. He has also been involved with the Grace Lutheran Church as a member of their council, and has volunteered with both the Reynolds-Alberta Museum and the Wetaskiwin & District Heritage Museum.

Municipal Role
On October 21, 2013, Bert Horvey was elected to his first term in office as councillor. Bert currently represents the City on the following municipal boards and committees:
  • Economic Development Committee
  • Joint City / County Committee
  • Joint Economic Development Initiative (JEDI)
  • Wetaskiwin & Area Lodge Authority
  • Wetaskiwin & District Chamber of Commerce

Hobbies / Areas of Enjoyment
Bert enjoys curling, skiing, fishing, camping, riding his motorcycle, helping out farmer friends and golfing on occasion.
