The City of Wetaskiwin has a Responsible Pet Ownership Bylaw in place stating that all pet owners must register their cats and dogs over the age of 6 months with the City of Wetaskiwin. This licence must be renewed annually.

City of Wetaskiwin Enforcement Services and Wetaskiwin Fire Services are now certified by the Child Passenger Safety Association of Canada (CPSAC) to provide car seat checks for the community. Certified technicians can assist parents and caregivers to ensure car seats are properly installed and being used safely and correctly. 

Car seat checks are available during regular business hours, at the RCMP Detachment (5005 48 Avenue) or WFS Station 1 (5490 40 Avenue). We are also available to host car seat clinics upon request for community groups or events.

Criminal record checks are processed at the Wetaskiwin RCMP detachment. As of February 12, 2024, Wetaskiwin residents must complete payment for criminal record check requests at Wetaskiwin City Hall and bring a receipt as proof of payment to the Wetaskiwin RCMP detachment before the criminal record check can be processed.

Enforcement Services has partnered with Bike Index to help return lost or stolen bicycles. Residents are encouraged to create a free account, register their bikes, and record their serial numbers.

If a bike goes missing, this system allows us to quickly identify the rightful owner. For unregistered bikes that are recovered, Enforcement Services will create a record in Bike Index so they can still be searched if an owner comes forward.
