Street Sweeping
Each spring, crews sweep debris and dust from the roads, making them cleaner and safer for all modes of transportation. Street sweeping typically begins in April, weather-dependent. Spot cleaning will be done as required throughout the snow-free season.
Crews start by sweeping the busiest roads and the main routes that connect them. Once those are clear, they move on to residential streets. Keep an eye out for no-parking signs and move your vehicles off the street so crews have plenty of room to clear away debris. If you have driveway ramps in front of your home, please remove them before crews begin sweeping. Crews will not return to areas where parts of the street could not be cleared due to parked vehicles.
Streets are assigned the same priority level for street sweeping as they are for snow removal. Priority levels are identified in the Roadway Winter Maintenance Map.
Street sweepers can kick up dust, which may make it harder to see. If you notice dusty conditions, slow down and drive carefully. Always leave plenty of space around sweepers to keep you and the crew safe.
