Statement from Mayor Branco following the tragedy at CFB Wainwright

On behalf of Wetaskiwin City Council and the residents of our community, please accept our deepest condolences following the tragic events at Canadian Forces Base Wainwright on October 17. 

Our thoughts are with the families and loved ones of those who lost their lives, those who have been injured, and everyone affected by this devastating incident. 

We also recognize the extraordinary efforts of the first responders, health-care professionals, military personnel, municipal staff, and volunteers who have worked tirelessly in response to this tragedy. 

As fellow municipal leaders, we understand how deeply an event of this magnitude affects an entire community. While words cannot ease the grief and uncertainty your residents are experiencing, we want you to know that the people of Wetaskiwin stand with Wainwright during this difficult time.
