These highlights give the community a brief overview of the most significant decisions made during the recent Wetaskiwin City Council meeting.

Mayor Branco has proclaimed today (June 5, 2026) BGC Club Day in recognition of the impact of the important work that the BGC does in the community and BGCs across Canada. View the proclamation.

The BGC flag will be raised at Wetaskiwin City Hall today, June 5, 2026, at 9:30 a.m. in celebration of BGC Club Day. 

City Council called a Special Council Meeting. 

Street sweeping crews will now be operating Monday to Friday from 5 a.m. to 5 p.m. instead of running 24 hours. Please keep an eye out for street sweeping updates on the City's Facebook page or wetaskiwin.ca.

Crews will move onto Tuesday's residential waste collection route tonight, Tuesday, May 26, 2026, at 7 p.m. They will move through residential areas until they are complete.

As crews move through neighbourhoods, temporary No Parking signs will be posted. Please move your vehicles off the street when you see signage. Crews will not return to areas where parts of the street cannot be cleaned due to parked vehicles.
