    The City is developing an Area Structure Plan to guide the long-term development of lands northeast of the airport and is inviting the community to review and provide feedback on the draft plan. Join us at a drop-in Open House to learn about the proposed policies, ask questions, and share your input with members of the project team.

  • Council approves 2026 Tax Rate Bylaw

    City Council approved a 1.27 per cent municipal tax rate decrease during the Tuesday, April 28, 2026, Regular Council Meeting, which was driven by a substantial increase to assessed property values in the City.

  • Time for Spring Cleaning!

    Electronic & Household Hazardous Waste Round Up & Kick it to the Curb are back!

    The City's Household Hazardous Waste Roundup will take place at the Wetaskiwin Fire Station (5940 40 Ave) from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on May 11 to 15, and on May 16 at the Wetaskiwin Recycling Centre (5707 51 St) from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

    Kick it to the Curb is back on May 16 and 17 to help you get your unwanted items into a new home! Place your unwanted but usable items in front of your property with a 'FREE' sign and then explore the city to find your own new-to-you treasures. 

  • Weekly Curbside Organics Collection starts May 4

    From May 4 until October, green carts will be collected weekly as crews shift to the summer collection schedule. Green carts are collected on the same day as your garbage collection. 

     

  • National Day of Mourning

    City flags will fly at half-mast at City-owned facilities on Tuesday, April 28, 2026, to commemorate the National Day of Mourning to remember and honour those who have lost their lives, suffered injury, or illness on the job, or experienced a work-related tragedy.

  • Flags Lowered to Half Mast – April 24, 2026

    The City of Wetaskiwin will lower flags to half-mast on Friday, April 24, 2026, in recognition of the funeral honouring The Honourable Horst A. Schmid, E.C.A., former Member of the Legislative Assembly, who passed away on April 4, 2026.

  • Solar Installation Grant Program expanded in time for Earth Day (again)

    The City is excited to announce the continuation of the Solar Installation Grant Program for the third year in a row.  The expanded program is aimed at aiding residents, business owners, and not-for-profit organizations in lowering their electricity costs using solar panels — falling in line with this year’s Earth Day theme of “Our Power, Our Planet,” which calls for unification around renewable energy to triple clean electricity by 2030. 

  • Public Hearing May 12, 2026

    You are invited to provide input on Bylaw 2106-26. The proposed amendment would allow buildings to be relocated from one site onto another site within the City, which is currently prohibited by the Land Use Bylaw. The amendment would also update appeal timelines to align with the Municipal Government Act and consolidate development security provisions from Safety Codes Policy CO-026 into the Land Use Bylaw.
