Wetaskiwin City Council approves 2026 to 2029 Strategic Plan

Thursday, March 26, 2026 (Wetaskiwin, Alberta) Wetaskiwin City Council approved their 2026 to 2029 Strategic Plan, which sets Council’s priorities and provides direction for how the City will strengthen services, support community well-being, and plan responsibly for the future.

The plan identifies four pillars  Economic Prosperity, Infrastructure and Environmental Sustainability, Social and Cultural Life, and Inspiring Governance.

The purpose of the strategic plan is to set the direction of the City’s work in the areas of the four pillars. Following the strategic plan, Administration will develop a tactical approach to fulfill Council’s direction as established within the Strategic Plan.

Each pillar establishes goals and indicators of success, which will enable City Council, Administration, and the Community to track progress and understand the direction the City is moving towards. The plan provides high level strategic direction for City operations, projects, and will inform budget development.
