Committee of the Whole: For Information & Discussion 

The Wetaskiwin & District Museum Society presented their annual presentation to Council, including a three-year financial overview and update on the City of Wetaskiwin Archives.  

Administration presented the proposed Intergovernmental Affairs policy to Council, which defines the roles and responsibilities of City Council and Administration in intergovernmental relations and advocacy, for their consideration and feedback.  

Administration presented the proposed updated Budget Accountability Policy to Council, which provides guidelines for flexible budgets to ensure an effective means to deliver services to citizens and to enforce accountable and transparent financial management of public funds, for their consideration and feedback. 

Regular Council Meeting

Council approved all three readings of both the Privacy and Access Bylaw 2108-26 and Amending Bylaw 2109-26, which amends Records and Information Management Bylaw 2046-23. These bylaws align the City of Wetaskiwin with the new Access to Information Act (ATIA) and the Protection of Privacy Act (POPA) approved by the Government of Alberta in place of the Freedom of Information Act (FOIP). The Privacy and Access Bylaw 2108-26 repeals FOIP Bylaw 1995-21.   

Council directed Administration to issue a press release regarding the Mayor’s absence from City Hall. The press release was published on wetaskiwin.ca on July 17, 2026.  

Alberta Mid-Sized Cities Mayors’ Caucus (MCMC)  

Council appointed Councillor Dean Billingsley to act as the City’s representative for MCMC until the Organizational Meeting in October 2026.
