At the City of Wetaskiwin, full-time employees' total compensation includes, but is not limited to:  

Comprehensive group benefits package:  

  • Employer-matched pension plan.  
  • Extended health benefits, including 100 per cent coverage for prescription medication, psychology, physiotherapy, and other paramedical services (some annual maximums apply).  
  • Dental care, with 100 per cent coverage for basic and preventative, 50 per cent coverage for major work, and limited coverage for children’s orthodontics.
  • Short-term and long-term disability coverage. 
  • Maximum emergency medical coverage for out-of-province travel.  

Paid Time Off:  

  • Paid annual vacation starting at three weeks per year.  
  • 15 days of paid sick time per year.  
  • One day off in lieu to recognize an employee's work anniversary. 
  • Four personal days per year.
  • Paid bereavement leave for the loss of a family member.  
  • Certain roles qualify for the earned-day-off program, which allows employees to work additional hours in exchange for one day off every two weeks. 

All employees are eligible for:  

  • A free employee and family assistance program, available 24/7/365. 
  • Voluntary participation in the City of Wetaskiwin Employee Social Club. 
  • An optional discounted wellness membership for the Manluk Centre: Wetaskiwin Regional Aquatic and Fitness.

Interview  

The interview is designed for us to get to know you, and for you to get to know us. We'll have a conversation covering your professional and personal experience so far that pertains to the position you are applying for. There will also be opportunities for you to ask the hiring committee questions. This is your opportunity to get clarity on anything and get a better understanding of the role and our team.  

Reference & Backgrounds Check  

The City of Wetaskiwin will conduct formal reference and background checks before offering a position. For reference checks, you will be asked to provide two to three references who can speak to your past work experience. For the background check, you will be asked to obtain a Standard Criminal Record Check as a requirement for employment before being allowed to begin working for the City. Certain roles may require additional documentation, such as a driver's abstract.
