Wetaskiwin Recycling Centre

The Wetaskiwin Recycling Centre is a self-serve facility, accessible to Wetaskiwinites seven days a week from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. 

The following materials can be dropped off at the Wetaskiwin Recycling Centre: 

Cardboard must be flattened or broken down and placed in the white storage shed next to the cardboard compactor.

Tin dropped off must be rinsed and any labels removed.

Shredded writing paper and white window envelopes must be removed from bags prior to being disposed of in the designated bin.

Types of mix paper accepted include:

  • Photocopy paper
  • Writing paper
  • White window envelopes
  • Cardboard milk cartons
  • Clean food paper containers
  • Paper bags
  • Any fibre

Magazines, flyers, and newspapers are accepted.

Please double-check to ensure you are only disposing of the following plastics:

  • #1 - Polyethylene terephthalate (used to make bottles for drinks, such as water and soda)
  • #2 - High density polyethylene (used to make milk jugs, shampoo bottles, and detergent bottles)
  • #5 - Polypropylene (used to make food containers for products like yogurt, sour cream, or margarine)

All light bulbs must be recycled by being placed in the white shed so they can be collected and properly recycled.

Electronic waste can be disposed of at the recycling centre by placing it on the designated wooden pallet.

Electronics recycling

The following materials are not accepted on-site:

  • Compost and branches
  • Glass
    • As of September 29, 2022, glass is no longer accepted at the Wetaskiwin Recycling Centre. Residents are asked to put glass in their blue or grey bin for regular garbage pickup.
