You are invited to provide input on Bylaw 2106-26. The proposed amendment would allow buildings to be relocated from one site onto another site within the City, which is currently prohibited by the Land Use Bylaw. The amendment would also update appeal timelines to align with the Municipal Government Act and consolidate development security provisions from Safety Codes Policy CO-026 into the Land Use Bylaw.

The City of Wetaskiwin receives policing services through the RCMP under the Municipal Police Service Agreement. The City has not initiated any formal review, feasibility study, or consultation process regarding alternative policing models. The Mayor’s remarks during his State of the Region address reflected his personal thoughts about long-term possibilities, not a Council decision or policy direction. Any future consideration of changes to policing services would require comprehensive analysis, Council deliberation, and extensive community consultation. The City values its partnership with the RCMP and is committed to ensuring Wetaskiwin residents receive effective, responsive policing services.

The Manluk Centre: Wetaskiwin Regional Aquatics & Fitness will be closed from Friday, April 3, to Sunday, May 3, for the annual facility shutdown. The facility will reopen and welcome guests back on Monday, May 4.

The City of Wetaskiwin welcomes interest from companies looking to invest in our community. We are aware of the preliminary discussions regarding a potential development involving a data centre, renewable energy, and greenhouse operations. At this time, no formal application has been submitted to the City, and any project of this nature would need to go through established regulatory and municipal approval processes. The City remains committed to transparent, responsible economic development and will keep our community informed through official City channels as things progress. 

Beginning today, Tuesday, March 24, the public washrooms located on the west side of the Knights of Columbus Park Centre building will be open daily from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m.
