You are invited to provide input on Bylaw 2106-26. The proposed amendment would allow buildings to be relocated from one site onto another site within the City, which is currently prohibited by the Land Use Bylaw. The amendment would also update appeal timelines to align with the Municipal Government Act and consolidate development security provisions from Safety Codes Policy CO-026 into the Land Use Bylaw.
There will be a Special Council Meeting on Monday, April 20, at 9 a.m. in City Council Chambers, Wetaskiwin City Hall.

The City of Wetaskiwin receives policing services through the RCMP under the Municipal Police Service Agreement. The City has not initiated any formal review, feasibility study, or consultation process regarding alternative policing models. The Mayor’s remarks during his State of the Region address reflected his personal thoughts about long-term possibilities, not a Council decision or policy direction. Any future consideration of changes to policing services would require comprehensive analysis, Council deliberation, and extensive community consultation. The City values its partnership with the RCMP and is committed to ensuring Wetaskiwin residents receive effective, responsive policing services.
The March 24 Regular Council Meeting Highlights provide a brief overview of the most significant decisions made during the meeting.
Wetaskiwin City Council approved their 2026 to 2029 Strategic Plan, which sets Council’s priorities and provides direction for how the City will strengthen services, support community well-being, and plan responsibly for the future.
In response to recent articles and social media posts, the City wishes to clarify that the Mayor’s access to City Hall has been restricted in response to confidential personnel matters that cannot be discussed under the Protection of Privacy Act (POPA).
